The Eleventh Putcha Venkateswarlu Annual Memorial Lecture, was given by Nobel Laureate John Hall, University of Colorado, JILA: National Institute of Standards and Technology, Boulder, CO, USA, Friday, on October 17. The title of the talk was "The Optical Frequency Comb: A Versatile tool for Science, Metrology, and Medical Diagnostics". Dr Hall shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2005 with Theodor W. Hänsch "for their contributions to the development of laser-based precision spectroscopy, including the optical frequency comb technique". The prize was also shared with Roy J. Glauber of Harvard University.
